Tennis Leagues, Teams & Ladders
InterCounty Teams
Interested in playing competitive doubles tennis vs. other local tennis clubs? InterCounty tennis teams typically play one home match and one away match vs. other local tennis clubs each summer. The 12-14 week season runs for approximately 3 months from early to mid May until mid August. Each division typically consists of a total of 6-8 teams from other nearby tennis clubs.
Edenbridge Tennis Club offers 4 InterCounty tennis teams:
InterCounty Mixed B and C teams on Tuesday and Thursday evenings offer various types of doubles matches: men’s, open 1, open 2, mixed 1, mixed 2, and ladies doubles matches.
Open divisions are gender-neutral and allow any combination of players. Mixed divisions require one male and one female player per doubles team.
Six doubles matches (for 12 players total) are played each week.
For Ladies doubles, our InterCounty Ladies B and C teams play on Wednesday or Tuesday mornings. Eight women play each week on the InterCounty Ladies B team and 6 women play each week on the InterCounty Ladies C team.

House Leagues
For friendly mixed doubles competition with other Edenbridge club members, two house leagues are offered on Sundays: House League and Advanced House League.
House League is for players up to level 3.0, and is played on Sundays from 4-6pm.
Level 3.0 refers to the NTRP tennis rating system, meaning players who focus on making contact and getting the ball in, while developing consistency and moderate rallying ability.
Advanced House League is for players from level 3.5+ and is played on Sundays from 6-9pm with early matches from 6-7:30pm and later matches from 7:30 – 9pm.
Level 3.5 refers to the NTRP tennis rating system, meaning players who are developing directional control, shot variety (like lobs/drop shots) and court awareness, building points with purpose instead of just returning balls. A 3.5 player shows improved stroke dependability, understands basic patterns, can use topspin, and is better at taking the ball out of the air, making the jump to 3.5 about intention and pattern development over mere consistency.

Singles Ladders
Singles players can join the Men’s or Women’s Singles Ladders to play a singles match each week. A challenger contacts an opponent (the challengee) one or two spaces higher on the ladder to play a singles match, then trades places with the opponent on the ladder if they win the match.

PROGRAMS FAQs
Is there any fee to join Edenbridge TC programs?
Most Edenbridge TC programs — including the InterCounty teams, house leagues, round robins, and ladders — are free and included with your membership. There is a small fee to play in each Year End Tournament as lunch and snacks are served, and medals and prizes are awarded to the winners.
Does Edenbridge TC provide tennis balls for programs?
Tennis balls are provided for most programs such as InterCounty team matches, house leagues, round robins, year-end tournaments, and team tryouts. Singles ladder challenger players are required to bring tennis balls to each match.
How do I set my availability for InterCounty teams or House League if I’m not able to play on certain dates?
Edenbridge InterCounty teams and house leagues use the TeamReach app to set player availability and view match schedules. Click the date of the match inside the app to update your availability.
