Court Rebuild Update

Edenbridge Tennis Club Members,

With the year end approaching, I felt that it was important to provide you all with an update regarding the renovation of our tennis courts. The City of Toronto has recently awarded the contract for our court renovation project and will be beginning pre-construction work shortly.

As a reminder, the project scope includes a complete overhaul of our facilities, including rebuilding of the courts, updating the fencing, and installing new lighting. Based on discussions with the City, here are the key points regarding timeline and impact:

While we had originally anticipated an earlier start date for this renovation, the project timeline has shifted due to extended procurement timelines for the new lighting system. This adjustment ensures that all necessary equipment and materials will be available for proper installation when construction begins. Lights will be the first piece of work to be completed as the crews require a hard surface to complete the installation. Once the lights are installed, the tear-down of the courts will commence.

The City Permit Department will be reaching out to us in the near future to discuss specific arrangements for the 2025 season. While complete details of the construction schedule are still being finalized, we anticipate significant work taking place during the spring of 2025. We are seeking alternate courts for us to use while our courts are being worked on. This decision is currently with the city.

The Board and I are working closely with the City to minimize disruption to our programming while ensuring the project delivers the high-quality facilities our members deserve. As we receive more specific information about construction timelines and their impact on the 2025 season, we will share these details with you promptly.

For those considering membership renewal, please note that the City will provide more specific guidance about the 2025 season arrangements in the coming months. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this significant upgrade. We will open up memberships for purchase when we have a clear indication of timelines from the city.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or any other members of our board.

Best regards,
Boris Fucic
